We hope you and those around you are going ok in these challenging times. Like many others, our team at Make a Change Australia is affected on a personal level with circumstances related to this pandemic.
From an organisation perspective, the global situation is not entirely a surprise to us. We created Make a Change Australia to respond to a changing world and believe positive change is critical. It’s the reason we’ve been running our organisation for the last decade, mostly on volunteered time. Now more than ever we are resolute in our pursuit.
You already know we’re all about community, resilience, connectivity and care. We are also about innovation, adaption and getting into action now. Our work supports people to create a better future.
This week we were able to offer the opportunity for creatives and changemakers to participate in a free online workshop on the theme Digital Communities.
With 40 people joining us, we gained a lot of learning for ourselves as well as sheer joy from the participation and knowledge sharing. A common theme for participants was that at a time when people are feeling very isolated, the ability to connect and learn in this format was extremely valuable.
We consider it a small step in the right direction and are looking at ways we can continue to offer opportunities like this for you to participate in.
In the meantime, we have the following immediate ways you can get support and get involved:
- Join our online community for people driving resilience building initiatives
- Join our online community for artists and creatives
- Contribute to our work supporting communities get digitally savvy, maintain social connections and create new solutions.
Over and above this, we urge our partners with resources to remain invested and proactive. We are ready to GO!
With our deepest gratitude
Karen, Sharon and the Make a Change team
