Celebrating the Completion of our 10/10 Youth Mentoring Program!

This week we concluded our collective work on and in, the 10/10 program for 2021.

For the mentees: it has been inspiring to work with you and we DO feel the future is in good hands

For the mentors: we thank you for your contribution, in generously sharing your wisdom with us and each other

Acknowledging that young people are the foundation for a better future, we took the time to tailor this skills building and leadership program to suit their context/ language/ priorities. In a guided dialogue over 10 months, we addressed the forming of projects that can provide: self-expression, play to individual strengths, and potentially contribute to the wider good of community. This is what we covered:

We are most proud to see that this program:

  • Provided young people a framework for being effective leaders and implementing their projects successfully
  • Facilitated the nurturing of relationships between young people and local business + community leaders
  • Witnessed some participant projects emerge and grow, as they developed through the project
  • Resulted in some mentees gaining employment or consolidating their career pathway
  • Definitely confirmed for mentors the importance of leadership/contribution, in recognising ‘what they have to offer’

Aida identifies and develops business opportunities that allows for program expansion aligned with strategic priorities of Murray PHN. In particular support for key projects that increase services to vulnerable populations across the Murray PHN footprint. Aida is active in the running community and volunteers with Parkrun Bendigo.  She recently completed the 2020 Williamsons Community Leadership Program. Alix Steed Succession Planning Lawyer, Beck Legal Alix works predominantly in the area of estate, business and farm succession planning with Beck Legal, one of the most prominent and growing firms of Bendigo and Central Victoria. Alix was admitted to practice in 2013, and has completed a Master’s Degree majoring in Wills and Estate planning. She is also the Secretary of the Kangaroo Flat Community Enterprise. Andrew Seiter


Partner, Leader of General Liability Practice Group, Wotton + Kearney




Andrew grew up in a small country town (Numurkah) and having confronted a number of challenges, completed year 12, the first of 7 children in his family to do so. Andrew studied arts/law at Monash University then worked his way “up the tree” to become a senior partner in what is now Australia’s largest insurance litigation firm. Bryley Savage Owner/Creative Director, Friendly Savage

Having worked in communications, public relations and administrative roles for corporate and creative agencies in Melbourne and London for15+ years, Bryley and her family moved to Bendigo in 2010 and immersed herself in the community and all it has to offer. Bryley has been involved with numerous projects since then and has a passion for helping individuals and local organisations lift their ventures to the next level, through creative and effective branding and communication strategy. Daniel Robinson Manager, Regional Operations, Accommodation Services at La Trobe University Daniel has been a teacher, outdoor educator, camp manager, expedition leader, executive manager, trainer/assessor, thespian, and volunteer. He has a BA, Grad Dip Teaching & Learning and Grad Cert in Business Administration. He also has a number of TAFE Cert IV qualifications including Outdoor Rec, Tourism, Fitness, TAE and is currently studying Community Services. Darcy McGauley-Bartlett Aboriginal Clinical Governance Officer at Department of Justice & Community Safety  Justice Health Darcy is a Proud Gunai Kurnai man who was born and raised on Dja Dja Wurrung Country. He is passionate about creating better health & justice outcomes for our Aboriginal & Non-Aboriginal community and has experience in working for Community and government organisations. David Craig   Originally starting in the marine industry as a designer and technical manager, David transitioned into management consulting within a government department, and then into a private consulting practice. David then started working overseas in international development, initially as a management adviser and then taking assignments focusing on human resource management and development.


Emmy Mulholland Tax Manager, Strategem Emmy started her career in Accounting as a graduate with Strategem. Emmy has been with the firm for 11.5 years and in that time has come to manage and lead Strategem’s Tax and Accounting team, as well as assist with the firm’s strategic development plans in her capacity as an associate to the partnership group.


Gerard Scanlon After Hours Manager,  Bendigo Health

Gerard has been a Court Registrar for 15 years, a Funeral worker for 7 years and a Registered nurse for 20 years. Gerard has had plenty of experience in a voluntary capacity with various organisations in Bendigo.


Haylee Kennedy Community Engagement Worker at Headspace Bendigo Hayley is a passionate community member who volunteers on the committee for Suicide Prevention Awareness Network and is involved with a number of community networks in her role at Headspace Bendigo. She has worked as a retail Store Manager in Bendigo and an area Manager for Victoria and South Australia. Her role as a community engagement worker has given her the opportunity to connect with young people in our community to provide them with guidance, encouragement and the tools necessary to support them to achieve their goals.

Joanne Parker Gambler’s Help Community Engagement Worker at Anglicare Victoria Joanne has previously been the Director/Manager of an Authorised Apple Sales and Service Centre, the Finance Manager of the Bendigo Tourism Board, and Certified MYOB Consultant Workplace Trainer and Assessor. Joanne has 5 Years Public Health Promotion experience including experience in program planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.


Kerry Parry Community Development Worker at Long Gully Neighbourhood Centre Kerry works as a Community Development Worker at Long Gully Neighbourhood Centre. She edits a community Newsletter which is published fortnightly: https://www.lgnc.org.au/newsletter. Kerry has worked as a Community Chaplain in Atherton, Far North Queensland with vulnerable communities to build community networks, and was a manager/team leader of the former Loddon Murray Mallee Medicare Local & Murray-Plains Division of General Practice for 15 years supporting general practice and health professionals across regional Victoria.

Kristopher Tatt Associate, SMSF Specialist Advisor and Manager at Strategem Kristopher has worked as an accountant and manager for the last 12 years with Strategem and has chaired the board of a not-for-profit. Kristopher has been involved in training and mentoring some of the graduates within the Strategem, and also lead a Yr11 & 12 youth group for 3 years.


Melinda Keighran Regional Sponsorship Advisor at La Trobe University Melinda has 20 years’ experience in events and currently organises the largest annual event on the calendar at the Bendigo Campus  “La Trobe University Open day”, a major event for prospective students. Melinda also portfolio manages some key campus partnerships and advises on our Regional campus partnerships helping to facilitate, negotiate and prepare contracts.  Previous experience in television, racing industry, sports admin, print media. Melinda has coached netball in the BFNL for over seven years developing and working with young netballers.

Nicolle Korp Program Lead, COVID Response at Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning Nicolle has worked at DELWP since 2001 in many roles. Nicolle is currently Program Lead, COVID response and responsible for managing DELWPs response to COVID and ensuring the safety of staff in their response and transitioning back to the workplace. She is also a junior netball coach and enjoys the development of young women.

Shane Kennedy Painting and Decorating Trainer at Bendigo TAFE Shane has been an employer at Bendigo Tafe since 2012. Prior to that he. Shane has also previously ran a successful maintenance business within the Bendigo surrounds, worked at Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre working with young people giving them painting skills, and Loddon Prison, training inmates in the painting and decorating trade. In 2012 Shane took the full-time position as Painting & Decorating Trainer at Bendigo TAFE. He has run that department as the sole trainer since 2015 and has worked with a wide range of apprentices


Sharron Neunhoffer Employee Solicitor at Beck Legal Sharron has 25 years experience in various workplaces including the Australian Defence Force (Army), in small business, banking, and law firms. She currently undertakes Succession Planning in the Wills and Estates department of Beck Legal. She is also involved in junior sports, in particular football and netball.
